The Morehead-Cain is the United States’ first merit scholarship program, housed at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The purpose of the scholarship is to identify, invest in, and empower a community of dynamic, purpose-driven leaders. Morehead-Cain Scholars have access to four summer experiences (one of which being Civic Collaboration), a global alumni network, a team of advisors, and more.
Our team is currently participating in the Civic Collaboration summer, where teams of four to five scholars are placed at the center of public, private, and governmental issues in cities across North America. Working with a host organization, scholars tackle real-world problems and work as an independent team to identify real-world solutions through open-ended research projects. Calgary is the only international placement location in 2026, and we have greatly enjoyed getting to know Canada!
